Daily Mirror.

It is thought that the North London club are monitoring Cisse’s current frustration at St James’s Park with keen interest.

The Senegalese striker was in prolific form at back end of last season bagging 13 goals in 14 games, and has struggled to match that this term.

He did manage to notch up his first premier league goal of the season with a deflected effort against West Bromwich Albion, but the 27 year old is considering his future now that he is not guaranteed a starting place.

It is believed that Tottenham are willing to offer an escape route to the former Freiburg forward as they look to bolster their forward line in January.

Daniel Levy is believed to be keen to reignite the club’s interest in a centre forward with Emmanuel Adebayor continuing to miss games through injury.

Cisse will be available to play throughout January too which would be a huge boost to any potential suitors, with Senegal not managing to qualify for the African Cup Of Nations.

His current boss Alan Pardew has mentioned that he hoped his fluke winner against West Brom would propel him into form.

The Newcastle Manager was quick to praise the player post-match saying “Papiss has looked exactly the same in training and he certainly doesn’t look short of confidence. He’s been smashing them in from everywhere”.

However, Cisse will be looking to become a more permanent fixture in the side sooner rather than later, and will hoping to start Newcastle’s next game against Liverpool on Sunday.
