Tottenham are considering a surprise move for Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o, according to reports from The Metro.

The Cameroonian ace’s one-year spell at Stamford Bridge looks set to come to an end in the coming weeks with his contract due to expire.

Eto’o has also recently spoken out about comments surrounding his true age made by Jose Mourinho last season, branding him a “fool”.

As a result of this it looks unlikely that the former Inter Milan and Barcelona star will be staying in west London, which has alerted Spurs.

It is understood that Lilywhites chairman Daniel Levy is ready to sanction a two-year contract for the 33-year-old and is hopeful that Eto’o will be willing to reject rumoured interest from teams in the MLS and Australia’s top tier as well as former club Real Mallorca.

The experienced forward is seen as a good option to lead the line, with big money 2013 signing Roberto Soldado having failed to settle and translate the form he showed with Valencia to the Premier League.

Eto’o – formerly the world’s highest paid player – netted nine goals in 21 appearances for Chelsea following a switch from Anzhi Makhachkala.
