Christian Benteke - Aston VillaTottenham are preparing a summer move for Aston Villa forward Christian Benteke, according to reports from The Mirror.

The Belgian international has enjoyed a fine start to life in the Premier League, netting 11 goals since his £7m arrival from Genk during pre-season.

This impressive form has alerted Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas, who is believed to be keen on strengthening his attacking options.

With only Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor to call upon, the Portuguese coach is fairly limited in terms of central striking options, particularly with the Togo international struggling to recapture the form he displayed last season.

However, the Villians are far from keen to sell the 22-year-old, and would demand a large fee for his signature.

If the North Londoners can secure Champions League football for next season, it’s likely that they will have the funds in place to test the Midlanders’ willingness to hold onto their star man.

Benteke’s agent Erik Kismet has said that a deal could be agreed, but that it would have to suit all involved:

“Christian has shown that he can play in England so why not take the step up to the next level if the opportunity is there?

“At the end of the season, interested clubs will talk to Villa, but it has to be right for Villa, the buying club and Christian.

“If all three parties are agreeable, something could happen, but right now his focus is on Villa, helping them stay in the Premier League.”
