Tottenham are pondering a January move for Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko, according to reports from Goal.

The Bosnian ace has struggled to hold down a starting berth so far under new boss Manuel Pellegrini, despite initial speculation suggesting that he would be a key man in the Chilean’s set-up.

Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo look to have established themselves as the Sky Blues’ front two, leaving Dzeko with a role on the bench – which is believed to be a source of concern for the player himself ahead of the World Cup.

This has alerted Andre Villas-Boas, who is desperate to add greater firepower to his Spurs side.

Big money summer arrival Roberto Soldado has struggled to adapt to Premier League life, netting just four goals in the top tier of English football – three of which have been from the penalty spot.

Dzeko is seen as an ideal addition to ease the concerns mounting at White Hart Lane, with AVB hopeful than he can persuade the former Wolfsburg man to swap Manchester for London.

Despite having spent over £100m during the last window, Tottenham are believed to have money at their disposal for signings next month, with Gareth Bale’s world-record move to Real Madrid covering the majority of their previous outlay.
