Tottenham are ready to launch a £20m swoop for Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku, according to reports from The Metro.

It is understood that the Belgian starlet has made the decision that he wants to quit Stamford Bridge after two years, during which time he has been loaned out twice to West Brom and Everton.

The Blues were believed to be sending him away with a view to recalling him to be one of their main strikers in the future, yet Lukaku himself want s a permanent move so he can settle and develop as a player.

This has alerted Spurs, who were linked with the 21-year-old earlier this summer.

Chelsea were at the time demanding upwards of £25m, but now with the starlet having suggested that he wants out the west London club’s position in negotiations looks to have been dented.

Lukaku himself wants Champions League football, however with no clubs in the competition coming forward to land him with a straight cash payment, Tottenham may be the best option.

Mauricio Pochettino is known to be looking to build a new era at White Hart lane, and could use the powerful youngster as the focal point of his XI at the expense of the inconsistent Emmanuel Adebayor.
