Tottenham are ready to sell Roberto Soldado at the end of the season with Tim Sherwood having lost faith in the striker, according to reports from The Metro.

The Spaniard was snapped up for £26m from Valencia last year as a part of Andre Villas-Boas’ spending spree, and was hailed as the solution to Spurs’ need for a top class goalscorer.

However he has struggled to adapt to the rigours of English football, finding the back of the net on just five occasions in the Premier League – four of which have been from the penalty spot.

He once again missed a potentially costly chance in the Europa League on Thursday night, which has led Sherwood to begin questioning whether or not he is the right man to lead his line.

Atletico Madrid are believed to be interested in taking him back to Spain – where he was prolific last season – and are said to be willing to pay £8m.

This figure is about a third of the one Tottenham shelled out, but reports suggest that it could enough to persuade the Londoners to part company with their misfiring forward.

Soldado’s presence is no longer seen as being as important as it once was, with Emmanuel Adebayor having been in excellent form of late.

Nonsense. The guy needs some luck, and just a bit more creativity in the final third in order to benefit from chances.

And ANYONE could have missed that chance Thursday. It flashed across on a rubbish pitch, and it bobbled. He’ll be fine soon!
