Tottenham winger Gareth Bale is hopeful that he can match the achievements of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Spurs winger has been in fine form this term, helping the Londoners break into the Premier League’s top four positions.

Now, the Welshman is hopeful that one day he will be able to match Real Madrid superstar, who is widely regarded as one of the finest players in world football:

“You put your targets high, the way Ronaldo plays, he’s the best all-round player in the world. People have said things in the past and the stuff he does is similar to what I do.” He is quoted by The Metro.

“He is a benchmark for every player who wants to be that good. Can I get there? One day. He’s one who we all try to match.”

Bale has notched 12 goals this season, and has seen his explosive style likened to that of the Portuguese winger.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to join the former Manchester United man in Spain, with Real Madrid and Tottenham believed to be closely linked.

The Galacticos are said to have outlined Bale as their major summer target and are keen to field him on the opposite flak to Ronaldo, in what would be a dangerous attacking set-up.
