Tottenham forward Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed the details regarding his falling out with former manager Andre Villas-Boas.

The Togo striker and the ex-Spurs chief famously had a rather sour relationship, which eventually resulted in the player himself being forced to train with the club’s youth sides, despite him being one of the senior players.

AVB guided the North Londoners to a fifth place finish last term, but started the current campaign poorly after investing £110m in his first-team squad, and was eventually sacked just before Christmas.

Up to that point Adebayor had not started a single Premier League game, but since the arrival of Tim Sherwood he has flourished, netting on seven occasions in 12 outings.

The ex-Arsenal and Manchester City man provided the winning goal in their weekend victory over Everton, and after the match he lifted the lid on his falling out with Villas-Boas:

“He brought his ideas and I told him: ‘Your ideas will not help the team’,” he is quoted by The Metro.

“I have had a chance to play for a lot of top clubs in my career and I know how it’s supposed to be. I told him one vs. one and he didn’t want to listen, and then I told him in front of the group.

“Maybe it was a mistake. Maybe it was a good one, maybe it was a bad one. I don’t know, but I spoke my mind.”
