Tottenham starlet hoping to make first-team impact
Tottenham youngster Souleymane Coulibaly is hopeful that he will get the opportunity to make an impact on the first-team next season.
The 18-year-old Ivorian striker is yet to make a Premier League appearance for Spurs after signing at White Hart Lane in 2011.
Some inspired performances at the last U-17 World Cup convinced Tottenham to swoop for his signature, with a view to eventually promoting him to the first-team.
He has since moved to Italian side Grosseto on loan and has also represented his club in the NexGen tournament.
Although he concedes that it’s a little too early to think about a senior appearance this term, Coulibaly says that he is targeting playing time next season:
“I am working hard and having to learn the hard way.” He is quoted by Sky Sports.
“I want to make my name at Spurs next season or in the future, but I have to bide my time because there are some top players in the Premier League in my position.
“Coming here has taught me a lot and hopefully the experience will serve me well in the future.”
Coulibaly could get his opportunity during 2013/14, as Tottenham are currently short on strikers, with only Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor to call upon.
The teenager has made four Serie B appearances this term, as of yet, failing to find the back of the net.
