Alen Halilovic, Dinamo Zagreb Midfielder

Tottenham‘s latest bid for 17-year old Dinamo Zagreb star Alen Halilovic has been stopped by the player’s father, according to the Express.

Halilovic is predicted to have a bright future in the game, and having already won three senior international caps for Croatia he has been dubbed the next Luka Modric.

Spurs have monitored his situation for a while and were expected to secure the youngster, whose contract runs out next summer, with a £10million bid. However, his father, a coach at Dinamo, believes his son needs first team football to maintain his development, something he doubts the north Londoners can provide.

Halilovic senior is reported to demand a clause in the contract that secures his son a certain amount of first team games over the course of a season, where every appearance must be at least 45 minutes.

Tottenham have already strengthened their side greatly this summer, and it is highly doubtful the teenager, despite his massive potential, will be able to claim a spot ahead of players such as Christian Eriksen, Lewis Holtby, Mousa Dembele or Paulinho.

It is understood that negotiations are ongoing, but a January move is looking unlikely.
