Michael Dawson is a well-loved, much respected Spurs player that I think AVB misjudged but someone whose strengths he has managed to see. AVB has been doing well for quite a while in what is turning out to be a fascinating season with quite a few new arrivals and recently emerging players having had to learn about each other and with a fair few of them getting games. None of that can be that easy, so it is to the credit of all involved. It looks like a happy, focused squad.

What a great article. The connection you make between Daws and AVB is excellent, and I think it's a great point to be made in the fact that AVB has done a superb job with managing the squad. I was a bit worried with Gallas, but it is clear Daws is preferred. He has played heroically, and his hunger for THFC has shown very brightly

It's great that more and more people are writing articles like this about AVB's success at Spurs, and the sort of turn around in 'opinion' towards him.

However, whilst everyone keeps saying "AVB has done well to adapt and show he's willing to change etc", what if, the actual reason, was Chelsea? What if, Abramovic, or the cancer that is seemingly riddled throughout the club, affected AVB, or his reactions to situations? It's no coincidence that he was fine at Porto, and has been fine at Spurs, yet the one club where people had doubts about him, is the one club that has had two managers since, one of which lucked to a Champs Lg win, and then got the sack, to be replaced by another one who the fans hate, who (if you want to talk about mistreatment of players) has in some respect made the decision Frank Lampard isn't even worth another year. A club that has just been on a one-way trip to ruin all opinion of itself with ridiculous actions etc (racism, kicking children, sacking winning managers etc etc etc).

Seems likely to me that Chelsea/Abramovic was the issue during AVB's reign, not anything wrong with AVB himself. But what do I know, I'm just trying to apply logic... :o)

We are willing AVB to succeed, not only for our team's benefit, but to also rub salt into Chelsea's wounds, because I have no doubt, they are following his progress with, if not as much, maybe more interest, to see what they abandoned and what they could achieve! Dawson is a class act. A die-hard team player. He deserves the same respect we gave to Ledley King. Let's hope he continues to find a place in the squad until he retires in 5-6 years time.

We have 4 v good CB's in Verts, Kaboom, Caulker and Daws. Gallas has now finished IMO, but the only reason Daws was going to be allowed to leave was the £9m reported offer from QPR, which was a great price for us to consider for a 29 yr old after just getting Verts for £8m. Glad he stayed as good cover for Injuries as he is proving now. Everyone loves Dwas but Verts will take over captaincy in the near future. Born leader.

Nice article. Well written. It's going to be a very tight run thing this final Champions League spot..will go down to the wire like last year with most likely four teams involved(Spurs, Arsenal, Everton and Liverpool)
