Wud recruit the person, who when nipped, nicked,knocked or checked, will not fall down, but remain suspended in the air, WHEN RUNNING, mind you RUNNING ( Not standing ) at a decent speed. There are not too many pacy guys eg Ronaldo, Suarez, Young. I wud roughly say, when u speed like these guys, and when knicked/nipped, 70 % they will fall. The point IS, was it a ” dubious Dive” or a fall. If it is a dubious dive, no issue. If the runner FALLS, because he has been checked, whilst running, the referee still has a choice to 1) book the Tackler, or 2) Give a free kick, or 3) Give a benefit of doubt a 50/50 situation, or referee didn’t see Clearly, to the 2 parties.
In Bales case, I wud say that when in doubt, apply point (2) or point (3).

If you have been a Spurs fan for 50 years then how would describe the going to ground of the one and only Cliff Jones?
He never got a rep. as a diver, Bale exaggerates the foul but as far as I am concerned there is contact each time.

Two differences:
1) Suarez dives, literally, from a standing position when either there has been no contact or he has initiated contact. I have never seen Bale doing anything remotely like that.

2) Suarez commits nasty, nasty fouls and then pretends he has been hurt, usually rubbing his head when replays show that there has been no contact on his head at all. I have never seen Bale doing anything remotely like that.

The most he does is embellish his fall – the last three yellows he has, actually, been fouled.

Try looking at things objectively.

the issue seems to have become black and white, either a pen or a card, not getting a pen is one thing but getting a card says that without any doubt he dived and further more he misses a game.
the refs have a responsibility to see the game at the least objectively and to be SURE, there can be no doubt.

Spurs fan of 50 years here. Gareth Bale does go to ground very easily, but at his pace, maybe it’s inevitable. The one thing that does show him up is the theatrical rolling and writhing after some tackles. Maybe he’s just preparing for the Italian leagues?
