Joleon Lescott is expected to complete a move to West Bromwich Albion today after having a medical on Thursday, as reported by MailOnline.

The 31-year-old is a free agent after being released by champions Manchester City and had been linked with a move to a number of Premier League clubs, including West Ham, Hull, Stoke City and Crystal Palace.

But new Baggies boss Alan Irvine appears to have tempted the former England international to the Hamthorns having previously worked together at Everton.

Irvine has admitted that Lescott’s wage demands could still prove a stumbling in the deal, but the defender is thought to be prepared to accept a wage-cut from the £90,000-a-week he was earning at the Etihad to around £40-50,000-a-week at West Brom.

Personal terms are still being negotiated but it is believed West Brom will meet Lescott’s demands in order to ensure they bag their man before losing out to another top-flight rival.
