West Brom manager Steve Clarke is adamant that Peter Odemwingie still has a future at the club, despite his transfer Deadline Day antics.

The Nigerian striker drove to QPR’s Loftus Road stadium on January 31st with the understanding that he was set to sign for the London club.

However, no official agreement had been reached between the Premier League rivals, and Odemwingie was forced to return to the Midlands.

Since then he has held talks with the club’s hierarchy, who have opted against dishing out strong punishment for his actions.

However, he is yet to turn out for the Baggies since this, but he did travel with the squad for their shock 2-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield on Monday night.

Despite opting against putting that attacker in his squad, Clarke insists that the player still has a future at the Hawthorns and that he can make a significant impact between now and the end of the season:

“It wasn’t an additional punishment and he was involved, that is why he was there.” He is quoted by the Independent.

“He was in the dressing room, he was delighted for his team-mates and was there to support them and help them.

“It is all part of what being part of a squad about.

“Peter makes his contribution and will make a contribution in the season going forward.”
