West Brom midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu is looking to give former Baggies boss Roberto Di Matteo a forgettable return to The Hawthorns on Saturday.

Di Matteo was sacked as West Brom manager in 2011 following a string of poor results in the Premier League but went on to win the FA Cup and Champions League with Chelsea as caretaker boss a year later.

And despite having respect for his former manager, Mulumbu is concentrating on ensuring Di Matteo leaves empty handed with Chelsea at the weekend.

He told the Express & Star: “I will not be looking to shake any hands or be kind to people, I will be looking to get three points and maybe going fourth in the league.

“He has a strong team but let’s see what happens on Saturday. I am quite confident. I have got a good relationship with Di Matteo off the pitch.

“I still speak with him and we keep in touch. He was a great coach for me because he played in my position and I owe him a lot.”

Meanwhile, Baggies defender Jonas Olsson believes Di Matteo’s Hawthorns departure has worked out well for both parties in the end.

“When he left here the board just wanted to go another way,” he said.

“It wasn’t a case of players falling out or losing trust in him. Sometimes it is like that in football.

“In Sweden we have a saying that everything happens for a reason. It worked out well for West Brom and it worked out well for Robbie as well.”
