The Mirror.

The French international has been a major hit since his summer arrival at the Hawthorns, netting two Premier League goals in two appearances.

His weekend effort – an excellent solo goal against Manchester United – helped the Baggies to claim a shock win at Old Trafford.

This has prompted speculation that Steve Clarke is already considering making Amalfitano’s deal a permanent one.

A clause in the current agreement means that West Brom could do so for just £1.7m, even if Marseille want the wide-man back at the end of the campaign.

The 28-year-old – whose younger brother Romain plays for Newcastle – arrived in the Midlands on deadline day as a part of Clarke’s summer plans.

He has immediately slotted into the first-team, adding to the club’s attacking threat.

Amalfitano has only been a Marseille player for two years, but struggled to gain regular action with the Ligue 1 giants.

Amalfitano impressed while at former club Lorient and has one senior French cap to his name – which he won during a 2012 friendly against Germany.

Should West Brom move quickly to keep Morgan Amalfitano?
