West Ham and Hull are ready to go head-to-head in a summer battle for AC Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari, according to reports from The Mirror.

The Ghana international is set to enter the final year of his contract at the end of the season, and is said to have no future at the San Siro amid talk of a mass clear out.

This has alerted West Ham and Hull, who are both believed to be ready to match his £3m valuation.

Muntari has already spent some time in the Premier League, enjoying a successful spell at Portsmouth – where he helped the South Coast club to claim the FA Cup – and a relatively short period on loan at Sunderland.

At 29, he would bring plenty of experience to either the Hammers’ or the Tigers’ first-teams, with both clubs expecting another season in the top tier.

Hull are thought to be slightly ahead of West Ham in the battle, with Steve Bruce having already coached Muntari at Sunderland.

But the lure of life in London may lure the seasoned enforcer to Upton Park.
