West Ham signing Wellington Paulista has told supporters of former team Cruzeiro that he would welcome a return to the Brazilian club in the future.

The striker, who can also play on the wing, has joined the Hammers on a six month loan with a view to a permanent move in the summer.

But the 28-year-old, who has already scored 19 goals this season, has been quick to thank Cruzeiro fans for their support during two stints with the Brazilian side since arriving in 2009, either side of a loan spell at Palmeiras in 2011.

Speaking to Lancenet in his homeland, Paulista said: “I have had two successful spells at Cruzeiro. I thank the fans for their kindness during the time I was honouring the blue shirt.

“‘I am sure I am leaving via the front door and I hope I can return in the future. The transfer was good for everyone involved, now I’ll work hard to succeed in this new stage of my career.”

Paulista will compete for a starting berth up front with new signing Marouane Chamakh and fellow Hammers forwards Andy Carroll, Carlton Cole and Modibo Maiga.

Meanwhile the East London club are believed to have placed a bid for Blackburn Rovers defender Martin Olsson, according to Sky Sports.

The 24-year-old has never hidden his desire to move back to the Premier League following Rovers’ relegation to the Championship.

And Sky Sports understands that after talks, West Ham lodged a bid over the weekend and now Blackburn are considering the offer.
