West Ham may have all but mathematically secured their Premier League status for next season, but the murmurings – or rather, noisy protests – of discontent are growing in East London.

After securing a 2-1 victory over Hull City last week, an incredibly vital three points in the Hammers season, Sam Allardyce was surprised to see the win met by a chorus of jeers and boos around Upton Park.

The concern of the West Ham faithful is centred around their side’s old-fashioned, territorial and long-ball style of play, in-keeping with Jose Mourinho’s condemnation last month that the Hammers have adopted a ’19th century’ brand of football. The fans want this to change before the club moves to the Olympic stadium.

Entering the summer window, unless Big Sam wants to make more enemies at Upton Park, he needs to source signings that can evolve the Hammers’ rigid and often unexciting style of play.

Therefore, in case Allardyce is short on a few ideas, we at Football FanCast have lined up six potential recruits that would help him in that process.
