West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed that he is interested in Nuremberg striker Josip Drmic.

The Swiss forward has emerged as one of the Bundesiga’s top talents this term, and has been linked with Arsenal over the course of the past few weeks.

West Ham are also a name to have been aligned with the powerful forward, with Allardyce believed to be in the market for a goal-getter to support star man Andy Carroll next term.

‘Big Sam’ revealed that he was in the stands to watch 16-goal Drmic against Wolfsburg, but that Nuremberg’s heavy defeat didn’t help his scouting mission:

“I was at Nuremberg versus Wolfsburg.” He is quoted by the Daily Star. “The sausages were great!” joked Allardyce.

“They got beat quite comfortably so in terms of that particular player [Drmic], you wouldn’t be able to judge him on that particular game because they got battered.”

Drmic is currently enjoying his first season in German football, and has been praised for his performances and versatility – he’s able to play as an orthodox striker or from out wide – by fans and pundits alike.

The 21-year-old is valued at around £8m.
