West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has moved to quash suggestions that Ravel Morrison has no future at Upton Park.

Reports last week insinuated that ‘Big Sam’ had grown frustrated with the young midfielder, with his well-documented off-field issues and sometimes questioned work-rate having left him frustrated.

Morrison burst onto the scene at the start of last season with the Hammers – he was a youth star at Manchester United – but his performances dipped and he was eventually loaned to QPR for the remainder of the campaign.

The 21-year-old is currently back in east London, where he is recovering from injury, and Allardyce says that he does have a future with the Irons as long as he knuckles down and concentrates on getting back to his best:

“We thought we’d brought Ravel to the forefront of his abilities this time last season,” he told talkSPORT.

“He had a fantastic pre-season and started the season very well. That drifted away a bit and he ended up at QPR, helping them get promoted.

“If he gets back to knuckling down, and getting used to the discipline side of the game, then his talents are outstanding.”

Morrison netted an impressive goal against Tottenham last season in a memorable win at White Hart Lane and has been linked with moves to the lieks of Manchester United and Manchester City.
