West Ham are closing in on a loan deal for highly-rated AC Milan striker M’Baye Niang, according to reports from The Express.

The French youngster was dubbed as one of Europe’s finest emerging forwards in 2012 when he moved to the San Siro from Caen, yet he has failed to live up to expectations in the black and red jersey.

Milan are keen for him to play regularly and fulfil his potential, which has opened up the possibility for a loan move for the 19-year-old.

The teenager is set to link up with the Hammers for their pre-season work, and could provide Andy Carroll with the support he needs to ensure the Londoners don’t get dragged into the relegation battle again next term.

Sam Allardyce has recently been told that he will keep his job at West Ham despite growing dismay among the club’s supporters, yet he has been warned that he must start playing more attractive football to appease the crowd.

Niang is seen as a player capable of adding a little more excitement to the Irons’ ranks, and displayed glimpses of his true ability while on loan at Montpellier for some of 2013/14.
