West Ham Boss Sam Allardyce has conceded that any deal for striker Lacina Traore is now “unlikely”, reports the London Evening Standard.

The Hammers boss spoke after his side’s 3-1 defeat at home to Newcastle, and admitted he was struggling to sign players in this transfer window, whilst suggesting a move for Traore broke down on Friday: “We’re finding it extremely difficult (to bring players in).” said Allardyce.

“We had a terrible day yesterday (Friday) when I thought a player was signing for us and then I found out he wasn’t.”

The Ivorian forward now looks set to join Everton on loan, just days after signing a contract with Ligue 1 giants Monaco. The 21-year-old has had a mixed time in Russia with Anzhi Makhachkala, but is likely to have to wait until next season to wear the red and white of Monaco.

The forward, who has joined the French club for €10million, has played once before on Merseyside, playing at Anfield in the 2012/13 Europa League. Traore scored the only goal when the two teams met in Russia. Now Traore looks set to team up with fellow on-loan forward Romelu Lukaku up front for Everton, instead of moving to Upton Park for the remainder of the season.

Allardyce is still looking to add to his strike force, despite Andy Carroll returning to the first team after a long spell on the sidelines through injury.
