West Ham boss Sam Allardyce is set to snap up Brazilian striker Wellington Paulista on loan until the end of the season according to Goal.com.

Paulista has scored an impressive 19 goals already this season for famous Brazilian side Cruzeiro and could join permanently in the summer if the six month loan is a success.

The 28-year-old will join Joe Cole and Marouane Chamakh as new signings this month at Upton Park with Allardyce continuing to have big plans for the Hammers with a strong squad being built in the East End.

Paulista is set to arrive in London today and will immediately undertake his medical to get the deal done and dusted as soon as possible.

As the striker already has an EU Visa he will be able to join up with the squad straight away and compete with Carlton Cole, Andy Carroll, Modibo Maiga and Chamakh to be the main man for West Ham.
