Eto’o is seen as an option, with the 33-year-old having shown himself to be capable in the Premier League during his one season with Chelsea by netting 12 goals in 35 showings.

QPR are also interested, but the Super Hoops are believed to be unable to meet his salary demands.

Eto’o himself wants to stay in London despite interest from European and Middle Eastern clubs, which could see the Irons tempt him with a one-year contract.

The veteran forward has enjoyed a long an illustrious career, winning league titles in Spain and Italy and the Champions League. He was also the highest paid player on the planet while at Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala.
