West Ham striker Carlton Cole is on the verge of a £1million move to Championship side Bournemouth, according to reports.

The 30-year-old scored in the Hammers’ 3-1 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday, but is expected to be the club’s fourth choice striker this season.

With the summer acquisitions of Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho, as well club-record signing Andy Carroll, Cole’s first team opportunities appear to be dwindling, despite starting their two opening fixtures of the season.

And Bournemouth are believed to have agreed a £1million fee to take him off West Ham’s hands to give him regular first-team action in the Championship.

Cole netted 15 times in West Ham’s season in the Championship two seasons ago and the Cherries believe he could be crucial to their push for promotion this season.

The striker, signed from Chelsea for £2m in 2006, has made 268 first-team appearances for the Hammers, scoring 66 goals.
