West Ham have completed the signing of Ecuador international Enner Valencia after the striker was granted a work permit this afternoon.

The 25-year-old netted all there of Ecuador’s goals in this summer’s World Cup, catching the eye of a whole host of Europe’s elite clubs.

But the striker agreed to join the Hammers from Mexican side Pachuca and is now free to join up with boss Sam Allardyce and his team mates ahead of their trip to Germany this week.

He told whufc.com: “I really appreciate the welcome I’ve been given and I’m excited to be here.

“I’ve already watched and read a lot about the club to learn about it – I know the fans are really passionate and I’m really glad to have signed.

“Of course, the World Cup gives me confidence to come got Europe and I want to take and advance with this opportunity that West Ham have given to me.”

And Valenica also admits the lure of the Premier League and being in London made it an easy decision to make.

The Premier League is the top league and I have followed it in Mexico,” he added.

It’s exciting to be here in England and London. I want to repay the club in my performances for what they are investing in me and I’m really looking forward to it.

“I scored many goals as a striker. I’m fast, and I try to continue like that because I know the goals brought me to West Ham.”

Valencia nettted 18 times in just 23 outings for Pachuca last term.
