Juan Mata insists he left Chelsea for Manchester United purely for footballing reasons in January.

But after another disappointing United performance ended in a 2-2 draw against bottom of the table Fulham at Old Trafford, the Spaniard looked dejected and full of regret as he wondered why on earth he gave up a potential Premier League crown for what could be Europa League football next season.

He has made a positive impact on David Moyes’ side since his arrival, with three assists in three games, but when he’s played out of position by Moyes, you can’t help but feel he was better off with Jose Mourinho at Chelsea.

If Chelsea win the league Mata will still qualify for a medal as he will have played enough games and will win a Premiership crown.
