Premier League this Saturday.

Despite having two encouraging displays in their draws with Aston Villa and Sunderland, they desperately need to start picking up three points soon.

The Rs are still awaiting their first league win of the season and as the campaign progresses it becomes a worry each further week it fails to come.

There has been very few fixtures between the two sides with the Latics taking their last meeting at the DW stadium with Franco Di Santo netting a brace.

That is the only result Roberto Martinez’s men have secured over QPR and following a run of 4 defeats in their last 5 outings, including a morale sapping 3-0 loss to Newcastle, the pressure is on to secure a result.

A bright spell in this run was Jordi Gomez’s hatrick in a 3-2 win against fellow strugglers Reading and they will be hoping to similarly compound misery on another relegation rival in QPR at the weekend.

Wigan do face a defensive crisis for this fixture with four central defenders unavailable. Antolin Alcaraz (groin) and Ivan Ramis (hamstring) are on the treatment table while Gary Caldwell and Maynor Figueroa are suspended after the FA rejected Wigan’s appeal against the latter’s red card in Monday’s 3-0 defeat by Newcastle.

Ben Watson (broken leg), wingers Albert Crusat (knee) and Ryo Miyaichi (ankle) and playmaker Shaun Maloney (groin) are all sidelined too.

QPR still remain without Brazilian shotstopper Julio Cesar as he has not been able to shake off a groin injury sustained at Aston Villa. Rob Green will continue to deputise. They should have Stephane Mbia and Diakite available but Bobby Zamora and Andy Johnson are still long term absentees.

Wigan’s worst ever defeat came at the hands of Harry Redknapp (1-9 v Tottenham in November 2009).

Prediction: Wigan 2-1 QPR
