Wilshere tried to injure me says Evra
The English midfielder received a second yellow card for his challenge on Evra at Old Trafford resulting in his dismissal.
The outspoken United star was infuriated by the tackle and claimed that his opponent had set out to hurt him:
“I think he didn’t look for the ball,” He is quoted by The Metro.
“He stood on my legs and it wasn’t the first time, but the referee did a good job and that’s it.
“That’s the rule of the game.”
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger disagreed with Evra’s statement, insisting that the red card had more to do with simulation than intent:
“Yes, of course. He has 10 years in the Premier League.” He replied when asked if the thought the defender had over-reacted.
“I thought the red card was very harsh, and I find the referee very naive.
“When you say to a player: ‘For the next foul you’re going to get a second yellow’, that’s a signal to everybody in the opposing team to dive.
“And of course they do it.”
Manchester United eventually won the game 2-1, with goals from Robin van Persie and Evra ahead of a Santi Cazorla consolation strike.
