Harry Redknapp has hinted that he’s ready to give Adel Taarabt another chance at QPR, but only if the controversial midfielder can improve his fitness.
The Moroccan trickster spent last season on loan at Fulham and AC Milan as the Super Hoops dipped into the second tier, and has since returned from Italy to west London.
However he’s been left out of Redknapp’s squad for the pre-season tour of Germany due to fitness concerns.
The R’s are short of attacking talent, and although Milan have been linked with a permanent move for the North African star he may well stay at QPR for their return to the big time.
Redknapp however wants him to work hard to get fit if he wants another chance in the blue and white shirt:
“The first day back training he wasn’t fit and hasn’t been fit to train since,” he is quoted by the London Evening Standard.
“We need to get him fit. He’s got to train morning, noon and night really, whether he stays here or goes somewhere else.
“I’ve got a lot of time for Adel. If he does that he will be a great asset to us I’m sure.”
Taarabt has long been considered a talented footballer, but his attitude, fitness and work-rate have all been questioned.
He starred in QPR’s promotion-winning campaign in 2010/11, but has failed to transfer the form that saw him net 19 Championship goals into the Premier League.
