Celtic’s reinstatement into the Championship split opinion.

Some believed they should have done the right thing and offered a rematch after Legia Warsaw’s 6-1 aggregate win over them was overturned due to the playing an ineligible player.

Others insisted it was the right decision to allow Celtic a route back in to the Champions League because Legia broke the rules.

But, after Celtic lost to Maribor last night to finally end their Champions League dream, Legia Warsaw had one final say on the matter.

And it echoes the thoughts of many fans around the world…

It wasn’t an option to offer a rematch or to offer our place to Legia – Uefa would have sanctioned celtic as well as Legia. Struggle to understand the amount of imbeciles out there that think celtic had any options here !

You had an option, but you refused to exercise it. UEFA are obliged to listen to clubs should they agree to a rematch. It’s call acting honourably and in the spirit of fair play.

Another idiot who didn’t takr the time to find out Celtic had no options in the matter.

I didn’t hear all this clamour when France cheated Ireland out of a World Cup spot a few years ago.

    I believe it’s all jealousy.

quite similar, both France and Celtic acted like cheaters, and both could choose between loose and shame, they chosen shame and then lost anyway
btw UEFA has rule that if both clubs agree to one decision than UEFA repsect that decision

Do not say Celtic is out! It’s only full time, they still have a chance.

he punishment Legia received was too severe. That suspended player had already served his penalty prior to second leg against Celtic, all the hassle was about minor administative error in paperwork, plus the player was fielded only 4 minutes into injury time, the score was already decided in favour of the Polish team. Someone at UEFA didn’t really want Legia in CL. Vast majority of football fans worldwide was outraged by their unfair decision to disqualify the team that won overall 6:1 on the pitch, and allowing the loosing team to progress while they didn’t deserve it. This was totally against spirit of fair play and very essence of football. Shame on them
