Tomasz Kuszczak

With Fraser Forster having gone and Craig Gordon’s fitness unreliable, a new stopper could be a wise addition for the Bhoys. Kuszczak was recently released by Brighton despite some impressive displays at the AMEX, and could be tempted by life north of the border.

He would bring experience and proven ability with a decent injury record to his name.

The powerful centre-back shone at the World Cup, but is currently without a club. He was drafted in on loan by Norwich last season but could not keep them clear of relegation, and has since been axed by Fenerbahce after struggling in Turkey.

Stoke’s gamble on the American backfired amid work permit issues, forcing them to release him early over the summer. Celtic could have some trouble too, but the youngster has a massive future and could be stashed abroad for a while and brought back in with his best years still ahead of him.

Diego Lugano

Diego Lugano

A Uruguayan international who has played the highest level for some time, Lugano’s one season with West Brom was poor, but his talent is still there. A move to Scotland could work well for him and Celtic would benefit from his knowledge of the game and vast experience.

Nicolas Anelka

Since his sacking from West Brom, Anelka has been unable to find a club. But should Celtic take a gamble on the controversial character they could have one of the most deadly strikers in Scottish football in their XI.

The bad boy forward has never really settled despite spells in France, England, Turkey and even China, but Glasgow could become his home…
