Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers believes Celtic players have to have the right mentality and personality type to play for the Scottish champions.

Speaking ahead of the Bhoys' Champions League tie against Gibraltar's Lincoln Red Imps, Rodgers thinks the ability to cope with pressure is just as important as talent when you put on the green and white hoops.

He is quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times as saying:

"I think pressure is part of playing for a club like Celtic. You don’t always have to be the best player but you’ve got to cope with pressure and cope with that demand, whether you are a player or the manager at a club like this one. You are at one of the big institutions and you have to be able to deal with it. The pressure will come. The pressure always comes.

"And that’s not always about the talent. You guys will have seen it a lot more than me over the years at clubs like Celtic where you can have big talents who maybe can’t cope with pressure. So the idea is to get the personality type, the profile right, so that in those moments they can stay calm and deal with it."

The Northern Irishman has only had two weeks of pre-season training to implement his ideas.

Minnows Lincoln should be a straightforward tie for the Scottish club but they will  face a side full of confidence after they knocked out Flora Talinn in the last round, where they were also underdogs.

The Bhoys have had three friendlies so far and will have a fourth against Maribor tomorrow night to increase their match sharpness before flying out to Gibraltar for Rodgers' first competitive match as Celtic manager.
