Newcastle United fans have criticised the club for not giving Florian Thauvin a chance after he was called up to the France squad.

The 24-year-old is still on the Magpies' books, but he will leave the North-East outfit when his loan deal at Marseille comes to an end in the summer.

After moving to St James' Park in 2015, Thauvin made 13 Premier League appearances - only three of them starts - and failed to score a goal or create an assist.

Since returning to the Stade Velodrome, though, the winger has found form having scored 10 goals and making five others in 29 appearances.

As a result, Thauvin has been included in Didier Deschamps France squad for the first time, but it is bad news for former Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko, who has been left out.

His performances for France at the European Championships last summer led to a £30m move to Tottenham Hotspur, but he has failed to impress at White Hart Lane this season.

After Thauvin's international call-up was announced, Newcastle fans gave their reaction on Twitter.
