Patrick Bamford has not scored a goal since his loan spell at Middlesbrough in the 2014-15 season, but upon his permanent return to the club, the fans do not seem concerned.

The Premier League club announced the signing via the club's official website on Wednesday, revealing that Bamford has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract.

The transfer has signalled the end of the England Under-21 international's career at Chelsea, where he spent five years without making a single first-team appearance.

Bamford caught the eye during his loan spell at Middlesbrough after helping the club's promotion push in the Championship by scoring 21 goals in all competitions and taking home the Player of the Year award.

The forward was subsequently loaned out to Crystal Palace, Norwich City and Burnley, but he made just two league starts during that time.

At Palace, Bamford came off the bench six times in the Premier League, and he did the same at Burnley in the first half of the current campaign, while at Norwich he started twice and made five substitute appearances.

Despite his lack of game time and goals, Chelsea are set to make £8.5m in profit after agreeing to sell for £6m plus £4m in add-ons, according to the Daily Mail.

While Bamford may not be in the best form, Boro fans are thrilled to have the forward on a permanent basis.
