Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola sparked transfer speculation by recently singing the praises of Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.

The North-West outfit are likely to come up against the England international in tonight's Premier League match away to Bournemouth, where Wilshere is on loan for the season.

There are no serious indications that City are planning a summer swoop for the 25-year-old, but Guardiola's comments - reported by The Telegraph - suggest the Spaniard would want him in his team.

Wilshere came through Arsenal's academy in 2008 but has struggled with injuries over the last few years.

Stuttered campaigns resulted in him failing to hold down a regular spot in Arsene Wenger's first team, so he was given an opportunity to rack up more minutes by moving to Bournemouth on a temporary spell.

The midfielder has started 17 league games for Eddie Howe and has come off the bench in two of them.

Wilshere is due to return to Arsenal when his loan expires at the end of the season, but his long-term future remains uncertain.

While there is no concrete evidence that City will try to sign the midfielder, football fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on the potential transfer.
