Bloomfield Road | Built in 1901
Bloomfield Road has been Blackpool’s home since 1901. After winning promotion they replaced the East Stand and repainted the West Stand and Kop, upping the capacity to over 17000. The ground pays homage to two of its heroes, with the West Stand named after legend Sir Stanley Matthews, the South Stand after Jimmy Armfield and the North Stand called the Mortensen Kop after the only player to score an FA Cup Final hat-trick at Wembley.
Tickets / Where to sit
Not as many people fancy the trip to the seaside with the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea not coming this season, so chances of getting a ticket are good. For a spot in block M, beautifully placed on the halfway line, tickets range from £27 for adults to £17 for under-16’s. The other blocks range from £15 to £25, while the Family Stand has tickets at £12 for 8-11 year olds and £14 for children aged 12-16. Meanwhile, a place in the temporary East Stand costs £24 for adults, £19 for over 60’s and £14 for under 16’s.
The ticket office can be contacted on 0844 847 1953.

Getting to Bloomfield Road
Train
The closest station is Blackpool South and is only a ten minute walk from the ground. From the station, turn right along Waterloo Road and turn left up St Heliers Road. Follow this until you reach Bloomfield Road, then turn right and then left onto Henry Street. Take one more left and there you have it! However, most trains run to Blackpool North. This is about two miles away so it might be quicker to get a cab from there. There’s also the number 11 bus that passes Bloomfield Road and can be caught opposite Blackpool North station. They run every eight minutes and passes the Old Bridge House pub on its way, a good place for a pre-match pint.

Parking
Just across from Bloomfield Road is a huge Pay and Display car park. It fills up pretty sharpish but costs £3.50 for three hours and £7.50 for twelve and can be paid for on your plastic. It’ll still cost you after 6pm and can be a struggle to get away quickly after the game. Otherwise there’s street parking.

Where to drink
The Old Bridge House is listed in the Good Beer Guide, so well worth a visit for a cheeky pint to calm the pre-match jitters. Alternatives include the Auctioneer, where Sky TV and cheap food lies through the doors and for away fans, the No. 1 Bar adjacent to the East Stand welcomes fans for a small fee.
Where to eat
The Auctioneer is part of the Wetherspoons brand, so we all know what to expect there. A good bet if you’re feeling peckish but need to save some money for beer. Or take the Seaside experience to the extreme and have fish, chips and mushy peas along the sea front.
Where to stay
The Best Western Big Blue combines the best of all worlds. Just two miles from the city centre and on the doorstep of the Pleasure Beach, it is comfortable and well-priced with DVD players and wi-fi in all rooms as well as free on-site parking.
