King Power Stadium | Built in 2002
Formerly known as the Walkers Stadium, it was been renamed the King Power Stadium in 2011 and is only a stone’s throw from the site of the old Filbert Street ground they left in 2002. If it’s atmosphere you’re after then you have come to the right place because the layout helps to keep the noise from all corners of the ground inside, creating a cauldron-like arena.
Tickets / Where to sit
With anticipation high at the start of the season, there are not too many spare seats to choose from. The cheapest seats are in the corners of the Upton Steel West Stand, costing £25 for an adult ticket to a platinum rated game and £20 to a gold game. For a concessions ticket it is £17-£21, under 22’s can get in for £13-£16, a person under the age of 18 can buy a ticket for £11-£14 and those ages between 8 and 12 can get in for £5-£7. Behind either goal is £5 more expensive for adults and over 60’s, £4 extra for 13-22 year olds but in the family stand under 8’s go free. For a side view of the pitch you are looking £36-38 for an adult ticket and for the prized seat along the halfway line expect to pay £40 for a platinum game and £38 for gold.

Getting to King Power Stadium
Train
Leicester Station is just a mile from the ground, so it is only 25 minutes walk away. Cross the road out of the station and go left and then follow the road round to the right. Keep the Central Ring Road on your left as the path seperates from the road and stay on this path as it crosses New Walk. The path then rejoins the pavement and you will be able to see Nelson Mandela Park. Turn right into Lancaster Road and walk through the park, heading for the crossings by the public toilets. Head for the Victory Pub and turn left in front of the Royal Infirmary. Take a right into Walnut Street and you can see the ground behind Filbert Street.
Car
The address is Filbert Way, Leicester, LE2 7FL
Parking
Roads around the ground get heavily congested on match day so leave plenty of time. There are plenty of streets to park on within 15 minutes walk or park at Welford Road, home of Leicester Tigers for £3 and then make the 10 minute walk.

Where to drink
The Victory Pub is a good choice for home fans but for anybody making an away trip don’t bother popping in and the Half-Time Orange near the away stand is for Leicester City members only. However, with the train station a short walk from the ground and located in the city centre there is plenty to choose from in that area. The Hind pub is opposite the station and has a good selection of drinks including real ales while the Holiday Inn on Filbert Way also allows home fans somewhere to neck a pint.
Where to eat
Leicester Gateway, on Gateway Street is good for food and beer, offering both at reasonable prices. Again, in the city centre there is a wide variety of restaurants and fast food.
Where to stay
The Express by Holiday Inn is closest to the ground and for anyone driving it offers good access to the M1, M69 and city centre. Free parking is available while the rooms are air-conditioned and have a TV to watch the big game highlights.
