Portman Road | Built in 1884

The redevelopment of the ground 10 years ago greatly improved Portman Road, with the South Stand and Sir Bobby Robson Stand dwarfing the stands either side of the pitch. Has been home to Town for all but six years of their existence and has a good atmosphere, with fans very passionate about their team.

Tickets / Where to sit

The Tractor Boys are another club that incorporates a grading system for their ticket prices. For Grade C matches, an adult ticket in the Cobbold Stand cost £30 in blocks A and B, £35 in C,D and E, while a ticket in the family area will set you back £25. In the Britannia Stand, most seats are £30, except for blocks H, N and O that are £35 and the lower family seats at £25. South Stand and Sir Bobby Robson stand adult seats are £25-£30. For Grade B games prices are £1 more expensive per seat and A grade matches are £4 dearer. Tickets for Concessions and juniors are cheaper.

Where to drink

Following refurbishment, the Drum and Monkey is a home fans only pub, so always a good idea for Ipswich fans to head for there. For visiting fans, Station Hotel near the train station is an away fan favourite and similarly the Punch and Judy on Cardinal Park is a good, family orientated place for both sets of fans to enjoy a drink.

Where to eat

In the town centre you will find McDonald’s and Burger King as well as a number of Chinese and Italian restaurants to cast your eye over. If you’re more in the mood for food from the ground, hot dogs are £3, pies are £2.60 as are sausage rolls.

Where to stay

The Novotel Ispwich is just 400 yards from Portman Road to give a simple break with parking, wi-fi and a safe for a reasonable price. Alternatively, the Holiday Inn is just 2 miles from the ground. Here you can relax in an air-conditioned room while the hotel has an indoor pool, gym and spa.
