The Premier League big boys enter the third round of the Capital One Cup this week and this may be the point where a future superstar grasps their opportunity to excel and stakes their claim for glory and a regular place in the side.

Indeed the League Cup is nowadays seen as the ideal tournament to unleash young, precocious talents dropping them into the fiery chasms of competitive football. Let us reflect on yesteryear and select the ten pros that made their name in the League Cup and went on to forge a successful career thereafter.

There’s a lot f players that started life in the League Cup and went on to great things, its the perfect breeding ground for talent in England and an important part of the football calendar in my opinion.
