Joe Hart is a good goalkeeper and the best England have. But all the praise for him as the best in the world comes from those who don’t bother to pay attention to leagues on the continent.
Hart hasn’t been able to build up the reputation of players like Gianluigi Buffon or Iker Casillas, and the fact that a string of good performances forces his name to be placed ahead of others is baffling and a little insulting.
A good player, of course, but largely because there are not many good English goalkeepers to compete with him.
