While Asmir Begovic’s talent between the sticks has never been in doubt, his ability to perform consistently in the Premier League, week in week out, has perhaps been up for debate.
Following a season in which he found himself dropped for the veteran Thomas Sorensen and even apologizing to supporters after a string of poor performances, Begovic started this season with a point to prove.
And after racking up nine clean sheets in goal for the Potters this term, Begovic hasn’t only gone on to banish any lingering doubts supporters might have over the Bosnian – he’s also gone to become perhaps the league’s stand out goalkeeper this season.
At only 25, Begovic has at least another potential decade of football left in him and if he does go on to fulfill his potential, then we may look to this season as the one the former Portsmouth man finally matured.
