There’s not been much for Aston Villa fans to smile about so far this season, but the performances of Christian Benteke have been one of the few high points.
The big Belgian has been a revelation since arriving at Villa Park from Genk, where he scored 19 goals in the Belgian Pro League, during the summer and the £7million man has done a pretty sterling job of keeping the £18millon talents of Darren Bent out of the side.
Considering the abject lack of service Benteke has had to deal with from Paul Lambert’s side at times this season, six goals and four assists he’s racked up this term offer a great return and one that fans will be hoping will continue as they look to fight on against the perils of relegation.
