Manchester United spent heavily last summer to improve their attacking ranks at Old Trafford and it would seem advisable to invest significantly to bolster the back-line this summer, with the full-back areas of the squad looking particularly week.

Question marks remain regarding the future of Matteo Darmian on the right-side and Nelson Semedo of Benfica is a man that has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, particularly due to Jose Mourinho's links in Portugal.

Progress seems to be being made in the quest to land Semedo as Portuguese outlet A Bola states club president Luis Felipe Viera has travelled to England to discuss a deal with Manchester United, as part of a potential £67.7m double-deal in Manchester.

The 23-year-old right-back has turned heads in Europe with his fine performances and his statistics for the season show he'd be a superb addition to Jose Mourinho's side.

In 22 Liga NOS appearances this season, Semedo boasts a pass accuracy of 80%, 49 clearances, 48 tackles and 32 interceptions- whilst he's also proved his capability in attack by grabbing four assists and netting one goal.

With 36 fouls conceded, Semedo's discipline certainly needs improving but that should be a fairly easy fix for Mourinho and Manchester United, with Semedo having the capability to excel in the Premier League.
