As reported by Wales Online, Swansea City are thought to have rejected interest in Gylfi Sigurdsson as he became the latest Premier League star to attract attention from China.

What's the word?

Chinese Super League teams making bids for Premier League players was one of the key themes of last month's transfer window and the Swans' Icelandic superstar could well have been on his way out of the Liberty Stadium.

That's according to Wales Online, who say that Sigurdsson was the subject of a massive £30m bid in January.

Despite the CSL transfer window not closing until the end of February, it's thought that Sigurdsson won't be going anywhere and will help Swansea beat the Premier League drop, say the outlet.

How important will he be?

Swansea have quite a simple relationship with Gylfi Sigurdsson, when he plays well then they win. The Swans have won four games in their last ten and in each win Sigurdsson has either contributed a goal or an assist, sometimes both.

That was the case on Tuesday night when he scored and set-up another in a 2-1 home win over Southampton. There's now real belief they can stay up and he's a big reason for that.

Overall he's directly contributed to a massive 14 goals for Swansea in the Premier League this season which, incredibly, is half of their total as a team.

If Swansea lost him in January then they might have fallen into a hole they could not get out of. As it stands, the ambition shown by rejecting any offers and investing in other players Clement wanted, Swansea stand amongst the favourites to not be relegated this season.
