Arsenal face a fight to sign Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic this summer because Real Madrid have expressed an interest, according to Fichajes.

What's the word?

The Gunners have reportedly been tracking Pjanic for some time leading to a possible bid when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

However, according to reports in Spain, Zinedine Zidane has placed the midfielder on his shortlist of possible targets for Madrid.

It is believed that the European giants are ready to offload Isco and James Rodriguez, which would open the door for a new man to enter the fold.

As for Arsenal, Pjanic is said to be regarded as a potential long-term replacement for Santi Cazorla, who will miss the rest of the season due to a troublesome ankle injury.

Which option is better for Pjanic?

Well, the 26-year-old only joined Juventus from Roma last year, and since his move has gone on to score five goals and create five more in 19 Serie A appearances.

The midfielder has also scored once in the Champions League after starting six games and coming off the bench in the another.

Considering that Juve are likely to pick up the Serie A crown given that they have a seven-point lead at the top, it might be difficult to prise Pjanic away from Turin.

Arsenal would be wise to make a serious launch for the Bosnian as they could do with his quality in the middle of the pitch, particularly because of Cazorla's injuries.

Pjanic can pick out a pass and is a strong free-kick taker, as well as a goal provider.

The lure of the Bernabeu is strong, though, and he is likely to win more trophies at the Spanish club than at the Emirates.
