Tottenham Hotspur are keen to beat their rivals to the signature of Fulham teenager Ryan Sessegnon, according to the Daily Mail.

What's the word?

The left-back is believed to have attracted interest from a number of Premier League heavyweights, including Manchester City and Chelsea.

Tottenham are said to be hopeful that they can win the race for Sessegnon, who has been likened to former Spurs star Gareth Bale.

The teenager made his senior debut in the League Cup in August, but he cannot sign a professional contract until he turns 17 in May.

The Daily Mail reports that Fulham want Sessegnon to stay put, but has informed the youngster that it is up to him to decide his own future.

Is Tottenham the right fit?

Mauricio Pochettino is known to give young players a chance - Dele Alli's emergence as a first-team regular being an example.

A number of players have come through the youth ranks at White Hart Lane, including Harry Kane, Danny Rose, Tom Carroll, Harry Winks and Josh Onomah.

This would give Sessegnon encouragement that he could make a name for himself in the first team.

At just 16 years of age, there is plenty of development yet for the left-back, and joining a club where Bale perfected his craft before joining Real Madrid, would be an attractive prospect.

Whatever decision he makes about his future, it seems as though he will have plenty go clubs to choose from.
