As reported by The Daily Mail, Manchester United are ready to do their summer business early and are hoping to land the top two targets on Jose Mourinho's transfer wish-list.

What's the story?

Despite not making a single signing in the January transfer window, it appears Manchester United have been busy behind the scenes looking to deliver big names this summer.

The Mail report that the club are hoping to do their business in the close season and are ready to sanction a £130m move for two of their most coveted stars; Antoine Griezmann and Victor Lindelof.

Mourinho is confident that these two signings can propel United towards a serious title challenge next season, according to the paper.

The manager is said to have attempted to sign Lindelof last month but a complication in his contract at Benfica prevented that from happening. That hasn't put Mourinho off and despite Lindelof's £43m valuation and Griezmann's £86m valuation, United are eager to do the deals.

Next level attack

Griezmann is undoubtedly one of the finest players in Europe, a star for club and country that doesn’t come around often.

He’s scored 72 goals in 136 appearances for Atletico Madrid, helping them to Champions League finals and bringing them so close to breaking the La Liga norm and winning the league title.

He was in red hot form during Euro 2016 too, winning the Player of the Tournament award and also the Golden Boot award.

Coming so close as runner-up in all these competitions is not ideal for the Frenchman and a move to Manchester United with Jose Mourinho could spark an era of success at the club, especially if United strengthen elsewhere.

Defensive steel

In Lindelof, Manchester United would be buying a defender that could easily end up giving them the next 10 years of his career.

He burst into the Benfica first-team last year and hasn’t looked back since, making over 50 appearances for the Portuguese giants.

Despite the good form of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo recently, he has the potential to be a significant upgrade on both and could add the defensive steel needed for a prolonged title challenge.

If Mourinho can land his top two targets then United are likely to be a real force next season, especially when you already have the likes of Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the club.
