Watford are considering a move to land Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul that would see him join until the end of the season, Sky Sports report.

What's the word?

Watford are considering a loan move for Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul on Deadline Day as Walter Mazzarri looks to provide cover to the first-team, following Costel Pantilimon's injury sustained in the defeat to Millwall at the weekend.

That injury leaves the Hornets short of options as cover to Heurelho Gomes, with Lithuanian Giedrius Arlauskis only playing twice for the first-team and Rene Gilmartin is yet to make an appearance for the senior squad.

Krul would be allowed to leave Newcastle United, who could cut-short his season-long loan with Ajax, with the Dutch ace making just one appearance since moving to the Eredivisie.

A good move?

Watford would be playing a very dangerous game if they didn't make a move for a goalkeeper today as, despite sitting eight points above the drop-zone, a quick change in fortune could see them tumble down the table.

In fact, that advantage could be cut to just five points today if results go against them this evening and that will be on Walter Mazzarri's mind. Whilst Gomes would remain first-choice, Krul could certainly push for regular football in the second-half of the campaign.
